Sanders crushes Clinton by carrying most NH voting groups

(CNSNews.com) — Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont defeated former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the New Hampshire Democratic presidential primary Tuesday by winning majorities in a wide variety of demographic groups, exit polling shows.

With 98 percent of the vote counted, Sanders had 60 percent of the vote to Clinton’s 38 percent.

According to an exit poll published by CNN, Sanders beat Clinton 55 percent to 44 percent among women and won all age groups except those 65 and older.

According to the exit poll, the younger a voter was the more likely they were to vote for Sanders.

Among voters 18-24, according to the exit poll, Sanders outdid Clinton 82 percent to 16 percent. Voters in the 25-29 age bracket, according to the poll, broke 85 percent for Sanders to 14 percent for Clinton. Among those 30-39, Sanders beat Clinton 72 percent to 27 percent. Among those 40-49, Sanders won 60 percent to 38 percent. Among those 40-64, Sanders won 51 percent to 48 percent. And among those 65 and older, Clinton beat Sanders 55 percent to 44 percent.

Also according to the exit poll, the lower a voter’s income the more likely they were to vote for Sanders.

Voters with incomes of less than $30,000, according to the poll, went for Sanders over Clinton 71 percent to 25 percent. Voters with incomes between $30,000 and $50,000, the poll indicated, went for Sanders over Clinton 60 percent to 38 percent. Voters with incomes between $50,000 and $100,000 went for Sanders over Clinton 64 percent to 35 percent. And voters with incomes between $100,000 and $200,000 went for Sanders over Clinton 55 percent to 44 percent.

Clinton, according to the exit poll, bested Sanders 53 percent to 46 percent among voters with an income of $200,000 or more.
