Republican business owner Rick Green won’t be challenging Elizabeth Warren for a U.S. Senate seat from Massachusetts in 2018.

Green, co-founder of 1A Auto in Westford and chairman of the board of Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance, made the announcement on his Facebook page on Monday, March 13:

“Maggie Fisher Green and I are humbled by the encouragement and support we’ve received over the last several weeks regarding my potential candidacy for US Senate. With a young family and growing business we’ve decided that my focus should remain on the good work we’re doing at MassFiscal.”

Several other Republicans are looking at taking on Warren, a nationally prominent Democrat who is in the fifth year of her six-year term.

Among them are state Representative Geoff Diehl of Whitman; John Kingston, a lawyer and founder of Better for America; former Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling; and Allen Waters, a Mashpee resident.
