Fake Rep Adds Insult To Self-Injury

As shocking as it is that a public official would publicly tip off lawbreakers about secret law enforcement activity, the subsequent public comments of Massachusetts state Representative Michelle DuBois are almost as shocking.

On Tuesday, DuBois posted on her Facebook page that she had heard a rumor of a forthcoming raid in Brockton the next day by federal immigration authorities. The original posting advises illegal immigrants in Brockton to avoid the federal Immigration Customs and Enforcement agency:

“I have a message for the immigrant community of Brockton. Please be careful on Wednesday [March] 29. ICE will be in Brockton on that day. If you are undocumented don’t go out on the street. If there is a knock on the door of your house and you don’t know who it is, don’t open the door. I ask you to be careful.”

In other words, she suggested to lawbreakers that law enforcement might be coming for them and advised them to avoid law enforcement.

On this basis alone DuBois should have resigned from the Massachusetts House of Representatives and taken a vow of silence.

But when she got an overwhelmingly negative reaction to her post, she then followed up with disingenuousness:

“Update:  It is obvious that this post has touched off a lot of controversy. To be clear:  I am just forwarding a rumor that is all over Brockton. Actually I’m helping ICE to know (if they didn’t already) that the raids they are planning are already known about in the City.”

Oh, so she was trying to help ICE! By tipping off the illegal immigrants — some of whom might include violent gang members and drug dealers — that federal agents were coming to get them!

Has anyone from ICE even bothered to thank her?

Clearly it was time to quit while she was behind. But then, on Wednesday, she came out swinging. She announced that she is trying to use the nationwide furor over her remarks to raise money for future political campaigns.

Then, here’s what she told a State House News Service reporter at the Massachusetts State House:

“People in my district are incredibly fearful of the Bristol County sheriff, the Plymouth County sheriff, and these alt-right angry hating people who seek to divide us instead of bringing us together. So my experience has been one of being a good state representative to the people I represent and caring about them like I do on every single topic. And it just so happens that the Ku Klux Klan angry alt-right wing of the Republican party from across the nation has seized on this, and they’re the ones that are blowing this up.”

So if you’re outraged by what DuBois did, and if you are one of those people “blowing this up” because you think what she did is important and should be criticized, then you are part of the “Ku Klux Klan angry alt-right wing of the Republican party.”

If she had never posted on Facebook, if she had never lied about her purpose for posting on Facebook, then she should resign just for calling her critics members of the KKK.

The reporter repeatedly tried to get her to say what the response has been to her from other state legislators. (The full treatment is not in the text of the story, but it is in the audio of the interview.)

Here’s what she said on his first try:

“I just came in. That’s it. No comment about that, really.”

He tried again. This time she cut him off.

“No, I really don’t have a comment about that,” DuBois said.

Finally, at the end of the interview, he took another shot.

“Are you getting support from your colleagues?” he asked.

“I’m getting support from everywhere,” she said.

“Including your colleagues?” he asked.

“Everywhere,” she said.

In other words:  Nowhere.

Which may explain the deafening silence from other public officials on Beacon Hill. When even your fellow moonbat hacks on Beacon Hill aren’t standing up for you, no one in public life will.

Have you read the more-sensitive-than-thou columns in The Boston Globe defending DuBois? No? That’s because there haven’t been any. (Yet.)

But the worst part of her statement could easily slide through considering the other outrageous things she said. It’s the part about how she’s “being a good state representative to the people I represent.”

No, she’s not.

DuBois is a moonbat’s moonbat. She’s anti-natural gas, pro-abortion, pro-global-warming-hoax, pro-illegal immigration. She’s also in favor of massive government subsidies for wind turbines in the ocean that don’t produce nearly enough electricity to justify their cost.

What do all these things have in common?

They hurt poor people — American citizens who have a right not just to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, but to not having their government stick it to them.
