Canadians No Longer Males or Females

Because of new “human rights” legislation, Canada will soon offer a third option when they record their gender on a passport application. According to Canadian Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould, besides the traditionally understood male and female, there will be a third box that she described Thursday only as “something other than male or female.”

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has promised to enforce the third gender rule on all documents issued by the federal government.

It’s just the latest social engineering from the Liberal government. Bill C-16 is before the Senate this week and is expected to be passed by the Liberal majority in the upper house. The legislation will change the Canadian Human Rights Act and the criminal code, making it illegal to discriminate based on “gender identity or expression.” It will also extend hate speech laws to include these two terms, something free speech advocates in Canada say is another way for the government to muzzle opinions it doesn’t want to hear.

Judges could also cite gender identity and expression as an aggravating factor in a hate crime. Critics like University of Toronto professor Jordan Peterson argue that an entire new category of human rights protection is being created for a concept that has not even been scientifically proven.

Nonetheless, Wilson-Raybould is hard at work to prepare gender identify policies in all federal government departments when the legislation becomes law — and that includes the passport office.

“The prime minister is very mindful of perhaps a third box or an ability to mark something other than male or female. This work is being undertaken at Passport Canada,” she said. “Individual ministers and [people] within their departments are recognizing that this bill has been introduced, that there is work that needs to continue to be taken.”

Wilson-Raybould was before the Senate’s legal and constitutional affairs committee, which is assessing Bill -16.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada no longer requires proof that someone has had a sex change in order to change his or her documents to reflect newly perceived gender identity.

But Conservative Senator Don Plett says amending the passport could lead to chaos.

“When you start putting other boxes in, where does that end? How many boxes are we going to put in? I don’t think it’s a workable solution,” he told CBC News.
