Beware of Community Preservation Act Tax, Stoneham Selectman Says

The local property tax surcharge is set aside to promote open space and recreation, historic preservation, and below-market-rate housing, and it is supposed to draw state matching funds. Stoneham is one of the Massachusetts towns that hasn’t adopted it, and Caroline Colarusso, a member of the Stoneham Board of Selectmen, says the town shouldn’t.
