Democratic Candidate for Governor Calls for New Hampshire To Become Sanctuary State

June 28, 2018

Marchand, a former mayor of Portsmouth, grew up in a French-Canadian neighborhood of Manchester. His parents were originally from Quebec.

Marchand heavily criticized Governor Chris Sununu, a Republican, for not doing enough to help immigrants cope with federal immigration enforcement.

The governor also said that ICE checkpoints usually net drug runners.

Marchand called Sununu’s comments “outrageous.”
