Eastern Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine All One State If Economic Boundaries Ruled the Day

Two geographers have put together a “megaregions” economic map that shows their view of what state borders would look like if they were drawn according to economic factors rather than by political and historical boundaries. The map shows much of western Massachusetts and Connecticut bound together into one unit, as are eastern and central Massachusetts, a sliver of southeastern Vermont, all of New Hampshire, and all of Maine; most of Vermont is bound together in another region with much of eastern New York state.
