Jail for Drug Overdoses?

A candidate for the board of aldermen in Manchester, New Hampshire is calling for a 30-day jail sentence for people who overdose on drugs and have to be revived with Narcan, followed by 60 days for a second occurrence and 90 days for a third occurrence. The candidate, Bob O'Sullivan, says the measure would save lives; critics say it wouldn't and would prevent addicts from seeking help.

A new committee is studying why so many people are dying on Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority tracks. Twenty people were struck and killed by trains during fiscal year 2017 (which ended this past June 30), up from eight the previous fiscal year.
