New Hampshire Close To Allowing Performers To Drink On Stage

It’s illegal for a performer to drink alcohol on stage in New Hampshire, where state law considers performers employees of the venue where they’re performing and therefore unable to drink while on the job.

But a bill sponsored by a state representative who’s a former band member would change that, allowing performers to drink while performing.

New Hampshire state Representative Brandon Phinney, a Libertarian from Rochester, says he has seen small bars get in trouble for allowing performers to drink while performing.

Phinney says the bill has gotten support from fellow legislators, and the New Hampshire Liquor Commission isn’t opposing it, according to The Union Leader.

It’s unclear what Governor Chris Sununu, a Republican, will do if it passes.
