Pittsfield School Committee Ditches Columbus Day

“Indigenous Peoples Day” will now be commemorated in October in the western Massachusetts city’s schools. “The Europeanization of America led to the largest genocide in our nation’s history,” said School Committee member Cynthia Taylor, who lamented “false histories” concerning the Italian explorer, according to The Berkshire Eagle.
