Rural Western Massachusetts Town Still Doesn’t Have Broadband, Nine Years After ‘Broadband Act’ Signed

The town of Goshen in Hampshire County has a little more than 1,000 people, and no broadband service. Former Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick signed the Broadband Act about nine years ago on the steps of Goshen Town Hall, and now the town is receiving a $770,000 Last Mile Infrastructure Grant from the state to bring broadband service to about 96 percent of the town.
