School Officials Following Through With Detentions for Students Who Walked Out

School administrators at a high school in Peterborough, New Hampshire warned students that a walkout to protest guns and gun violence would likely draw two-day detentions as punishment, and now they’re following through.

Student leaders said school officials were clear beforehand that there would be punishments and offered an idea of what they would be.

The walkout, which coincided with walkouts elsewhere in the country last week, was designed to protest what supporters of it say is a lack of gun control legislation in the country, in the wake of the mass-shooting February 14 in Parkland, Florida.
