UFO Monument Hounded Again By Western Massachusetts Town

April 15, 2018

For the second time in three years a small town in western Massachusetts is ordering that a monument to a reported UFO sighting be moved.

The monument, first placed near the replica of a historic covered bridge in the town of Sheffield in 2015, commemorates the reported sighting on September 1, 1969 of an object with a “self-contained glow.”

Forty people came forward saying they saw an odd light that night in that area of southwestern Massachusetts, according to The Berkshire Eagle. A family driving over the bridge that was there that night reported a paranormal experience.

The event has been recognized by the historical society of a nearby town (Great Barrington) and by the International UFO Museum Research Center in Roswell, New Mexico.

Shortly after the 5,000-pound monument was erected in 2015, town officials demanded that it be moved because they found it was on town property. Now town officials are saying the monument is in a public right-of-way and are demanding that it be moved again — even though, according to one of the UFO witnesses, the same town administrator who is now saying it has to be moved a second time picked the spot where the monument is now.

Sheffield has about 3,200 people. It borders on Connecticut and is one town east of the New York state line.
