March 7, 2018

The ship, one of five in the history of the United States Navy called Lexington, was scuttled after being severely damaged by the Japanese during the Battle of the Coral Sea in May 1942.

Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen led an expedition that found the ship about 500 miles off Australia’s east coast at a depth of about two miles.
