The BLOG:

Do You Have A Warrior’s Mind? This Veteran Does.

We meet a TON of incredible people and organizations with all of the pro-bono work that The Silent Partner Marketing does in the military and first responder communities.  This one really stirred something in us and I wanted to tell you a little about the group and the work they are doing – it’s great to find a little hope and inspiration in the day.

Many of my friends who are veterans suffer from PTSD, among some of the physical challenges they face since returning home.  They know it … I know it … but it’s not something you talk about.  It’s like the quiet elephant in the room.  And the sad truth of it is that many veterans have come to feel that they’re alone in the fight.

Michael Woods has made it his personal mission to let them know they are not.

Woods is the executive director of A Warriors Mind.  The idea behind the organization is to rebuild and reconnect the veteran community.

They do this by hosting different types of events to bring veterans and community members together. That creates opportunities for veterans to build new friendships and network with quality patriots from the local area.

They also offer services, supported by volunteers, to help veterans connect with the resources they need.

Woods joined the Navy back in August of 2000 and spent the next 13 years traveling all over the planet. He was stationed in Great Lakes; Jacksonville, Florida; London; Key West; Afghanistan; and Bahrain, and was fortunate to work closely with all four branches of the service during his career.

He decided to get out while he was still young and settle down near Chicago with his wife and two kids. (Why he picked Chicago is beyond me.)

They had everything planned out before he got his DD214.

As Woods likes to say, life has a way of turning you every way but loose sometimes. They went through some really rough times both financially and emotionally, and he ultimately founded A Warriors Mind because he wanted to make sure his brothers and sisters had a place to turn for help and camaraderie.

They’ve got a very cool event coming up for the Tampa Task Force in a few weeks – we’re talking about some celebrity volleyball meets party time.  All of the money goes to support the veterans.  You can check out details about their upcoming event here.

God bless the men and women who have fought for our country … continue to fight for our country … and fight every day to overcome the physical and emotional trauma that has been placed upon them.
