Congressman Joe Kennedy III is setting a partisan edge as August dawns. In a fundraising email circulated on Sunday, Kennedy starts off, “There’s no turning back. Love it or hate it, the political season has arrived and the 2016 campaign is well underway. Plenty of wild ideas are already surfacing from some of the leading presidential candidates – like ‘phasing out’ Medicare, repealing the Affordable Care Act, and rounding up millions of immigrant families for deportation. These extreme positions might grab headlines, but they’ll only deepen the divisions in our country.”

With Republican presidential debates about to kick off, Kennedy writes that the 2016 elections should be about “livable wages for all American workers, real equality for the LGBT community, health care everyone can access, and education everyone can afford.” Kennedy on Monday morning planned to visit the summer program at the Sharon Cooperative School. At 6 p.m., Kennedy is the featured guest at an Alliance for Business Leadership “Progressive Power Hour” at MassChallenge, 21 Drydock Ave., Boston.
