Holiday cheer aplenty at Nantucket Noel Stroll — Gallery

Printed from:

The Nantucket Chamber of Commerce is hosting an island-wide series of events to spark the imagination of all who dare to dream this holiday season.

The 10th annual Island Tour of Lights encourages home owners to dazzle visitors with creative designs in high hopes of earning this years bragging rights. The Chamber takes great pride in seeing the Island decorated in grand style, so competition to win “the People’s Choice Awards” becomes intense between good-natured merchants who decorate store fronts along main streets.

The heart of the town, however, was this past week’s Noel Stroll, where streets teem with merry makers eager to see 150 trees in a blaze of illumination throughout the town’s center. As the New Year rings in, Nantucket plans fascinating two- and three-hour guided wilderness hikes through various ecosystems, comedy shows, family art workshops, skating parties, pajama brunches and a New Year’s Eve ball that celebrates the meeting of Trans-Atlantic Titanic-style and the movie “In Heart of the Sea.”
