Topless Feminist Attacks Christmas Creche at Vatican

An extremist feminist group has claimed responsibility for a Christmas Day attack on a nativity at Vatican City by a topless woman.

The woman, wearing only black pants and shoes, dashed toward the crèche yelling “God is woman,” which she also had emblazoned on her back, according to a Reuters photographer who captured the scene.

The group, called FEMEN, which is based in France and Ukraine, posted a statement online that appears to be a rough translation into English. The statement claims that the woman, whom the group identifies as a “FEMEN sextremist,” “kidnapped the papal doll of the baby Christ from the Vatican Christmas nativity scene in the square of St. Peter in Vatican.”

But video shot by the Reuters photographer shows that a Vatican gendarme captured the woman about one second after she grabbed the Christ child from the nativity.

The rough-English statement from FEMEN states in part:

The FEMEN act was directed against the Vatican’s infringement of the rights of women to their own bodies. In particular, against the policy of the ‘Holy See’ associated with the promotion of the ban on abortion and “sacred condemnation” of contraception.

FEMEN considers the anti-war policy of the Vatican a rough medieval attack on the freedom of women and their natural rights.

FEMEN encourages women to follow the example of the movement and kidnap babies from religious denominations, thus, stating their right to use of their own body!
