Diehl Wins Republican U.S. Senate Primary

State Representative Geoff Diehl got off to an early lead and never gave it back Tuesday night, winning the three-way race for the Republican nomination to take on U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren, according to New England Cable News.
The Whitman Republican had a healthy lead in the hard vote count shortly after the polls closed in Massachusetts at 8 p.m. over businessman John Kingston and former Mitt Romney aide Beth Lindstrom.
Diehl staked out the most conservative message of the three candidates, which apparently clicked with a large plurality of GOP primary voters.
Skeptics say Diehl, who was a Trump supporter in 2016, will have a hard time upsetting Warren in left-leaning Massachusetts. Polls earlier in the year found that Warren had a 30-point lead over any Republican, including Diehl.
