Former President Donald Trump holds a 16-point lead over former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley in the first of seven tracking polls that will be released each morning ahead of the New Hampshire primary.

Coming off his lopsided win Monday, January 15 in the Iowa caucuses, Trump drew support from 61 percent of Republicans and 38 percent of independents in the Suffolk University/Boston Globe/NBC-10 tracking poll of 500 likely New Hampshire Republican primary voters.

The poll results, released Wednesday afternoon, January 17, showed 50 percent of likely voters either plan to vote for Trump, or are leaning towards him. Thirty-four percent supported Haley and 5 percent of those polled said they plan to vote for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

The results underscored both Trump’s strong base of support and a desire among some voters to see him lose. Ninety percent of Trump supporters polled said their vote was “for” him, while 5 percent said their vote was “against” Haley. Fifty-four percent of Haley supporters said their vote was for her, while 37 percent said it was a vote against Trump.
