David Daleiden: Saint or Sinner?

David Daleiden, the 28-year-old founder of the Center for Medical Progress, infiltrated the National Abortion Federation, Planned Parenthood, and Stem Express to expose — in graphic homemade videos — that abortionists not only kill babies, but also butcher them and sell their hearts, kidneys, lungs, brains, and other organs for profit. These videos show employees of these organizations joking about and minimizing the dignity of the lives they destroy as they pick their way through baby body parts to select the most valuable ones to offer to those who will pay a premium for the best selection.

Did Daleiden do the right thing? Is he a saint or someone who trespassed into private meetings and one who broke state and federal laws to uncover the macabre side of the abortion industry?

To date, three lawsuits are pending versus Daleiden and the Center for Medical Progress. Just last week Planned Parenthood filed a lawsuit and Stem Express, the firm that purchased the organs from Planned Parenthood, has filed another. The National Abortion Federation (NAF), the abortion industry group, has separately sued Daleiden for infiltrating their meetings and portraying NAF and its members in a false light by “releasing heavily edited and grossly misleading ‘highlight tapes’ in order to falsely portray their ‘victims’ as profiting from fetal tissue donation campaigns when the exact opposite is true.”

Before passing judgment on the veracity of either side’s claims, I urge you to watch a summary of the first nine of 11 videos David has released. If you have not yet viewed these shocking videos, they can be seen below. Please note that it is heavily edited as it reduces more than 300 hours of footage to just 4:30. But every second of those 4:30 minutes is actual footage. To the charge of “heavily editing,” David must plead guilty. But then again, is it wrong to edit over 300 hours of raw footage down to 4:30? NBC, CBS, CNN, FOX, and every other broadcast news agency edits the content we watch every day. The questions we should be asking is not whether the videos are heavily edited, but whether what we are watching distorts the truth contained in the statements captured in the investigation. You can watch all of the footage from which the summary videos were compiled and find that nothing in the summary videos distorts the truth, nor puts words in the mouths of those speaking so disgustingly about human life while munching on a salad and sipping wine.

Did you see the sellers bargaining over the price that would be paid for the baby organs? Do you think David has “falsely portrayed” them as profiting from the sale?

Do you really think these are fetal tissue donation campaigns? And who is the “victim” here? The people who have been videotaped or the babies who have been butchered? And what about the mothers who were told the baby they were carrying was not really a baby but “just a blob of tissue?”

In 1906, Upton Sinclair infiltrated the meat packing industry in Chicago. His description of diseased, rotten, and contaminated meat shocked the public. His book, “The Jungle,” led to new federal food safety laws, helped transform that business, and brought us the Food and Drug Administration, which is charged with keeping our food safe. Now David has infiltrated the abortion business and revealed their inner most secrets. As a result, four congressional committees and one standing committee armed with funds and staff will investigate Planned Parenthood and the abortion business. Let’s hope they get it right and, at a minimum, discontinue using federal funds, our money, to support the abhorrent practice of killing babies and selling their organs for profit or, as the Governor of Ohio just revealed, dumping their remains into our garbage landfills. Our babies deserve better than that.
