8,600 Still Without Natural Gas in Merrimack Valley Warned About Coming Freeze

Some 8,600 natural gas customers in Lawrence, North Andover, and Andover still don’t have service, which means they don’t have heat — even as temperatures are expected to plummet below freezing Wednesday night.

State officials are encouraging residents to seek shelter elsewhere.

Columbia Gas has said it expects to restore natural gas service to all its customers by November 19.

A series of explosions September 13 left one man dead and about 25 injured, along with property damage and natural gas service outages.
