Almost One-Third of Harvard Coeds Surveyed Say They’ve Received Nonconsensual Sexual Contact – And It’s Staying Steady

October 18, 2019

About 32 percent of female undergraduates at Harvard College who responded to a survey earlier this year said they had experienced nonconsensual sexual contact – about the same percentage as five years ago, when it was 31 percent.

“I’m profoundly saddened and disturbed that we find ourselves after five years in essentially the same position that we were before,” said Lawrence Bacow, president of Harvard University, during a campus meeting Thursday, October 17, according to The Harvard Crimson.

Survey results show that most of the respondents who reported committing sexual misconduct or sustaining it said they drank alcohol before it happened and that campus housing was the most likely place for it to have occurred, according to The Harvard Crimson.
