May 16, 2018

A 22-year-old man sitting in the back seat of a cruiser with his hands handcuffed behind his back in Dexter, Maine managed to maneuver his hands to the front of his body, squirm through an 11-inch-by-11-inch window in the partition, get into the driver’s seat and take off, police said.

He then ditched the cruiser and stole another car, at one point leading police on a 100-miles-an-hour chase, before crashing after driving over spiked mats police put out, according to the Bangor Daily News.

The suspect, Tyler Tibetts, has past convictions that include aggravated assault, aggravated forgery, and aggravated criminal mischief, according to the Bangor Daily News.
