Bernie Sanders Calls For A Four-Day Work Week

February 23, 2023

U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) wants the United States to have a four-day work week instead of five days.

The self-described democratic socialist said that increased productivity means that workers are more efficient and therefore should work less than they did in the past.

“With exploding technology and increased worker productivity, it’s time to move toward a four-day work week with no loss of pay,” Sanders recently tweeted. “Workers must benefit from technology, not just corporate CEOs.”

Typically, advocates of a four-day workweek want to reduce the number of hours worked in a week from 40 to 32.
