Bill To Allow Illegal Aliens To Get Driver’s Licenses in Massachusetts Announced

January 23, 2019

Three state legislators are pushing for Massachusetts to issue driver’s licenses to illegal aliens.

State Senator Brendan Crighton (D-Lynn), state Representative Christine Barber (D-Somerville), and state Representative Tricia Farley-Bouvier (D-Pittsfield) on Wednesday, January 23 introduced a bill to accomplish that called the the Work and Family Mobility Act, according to State House News Service.

Illegal immigrants wouldn’t qualify for a so-called Real ID driver’s license, since that would violate federal law. But they could get second-tier driver’s license that doesn’t comply with federal identification law.

Governor Charlie Baker, a Republican, has opposed offering driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants as recently as 2016. The state Legislature has failed to pass comparable legislation in the past.
