Bristol County Shafted In Coronavirus Vaccine Doses, Fall River Mayor Says

February 18, 2021

Bristol County is getting far fewer coronavirus vaccine doses than other counties in Massachusetts relative to its confirmed cases of the virus, the mayor of Fall River said.

Mayor Paul Coogan told the Fall River Herald News that Berkshire County in western Massachusetts is getting about six times as many doses per confirmed case than Bristol County, which includes the South Coast of Massachusetts.

“We’re not getting our fair share, period,” Coogan said, according to a Fall River Herald News story published Wednesday, February 17.

The mayor said he has brought the problem to the attention of state officials, who he said are trying to help.

The Baker administration has received criticism for the perceived slow and inefficient rollout of coronavirus vaccinations in Massachusetts.

The press office of Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker could not immediately be reached for comment Thursday morning by New Boston Post.
