Brown Graduate Students Vote To Unionize

Graduate students at Brown University have voted to unionize, by a margin of 576 to 394, according to the Brown Daily Herald.

Candidates for doctorates and master’s degrees who work for the university as teaching assistants, resident assistances, or proctors will now be able to engage in collective bargaining to negotiate wages, hours, and terms and conditions of employment.

About 1,250 graduate students were eligible to take part in the election, which took place over the course of six days ending Monday, according to the Brown Daily Herald. Results were published Tuesday, November 20.

Graduate students at Harvard University voted this past April to unionize.
