Cape Ann Seagull Steals Credit Cards and Cash — Again

August 8, 2018

A seagull swooped down on Singing Beach in Manchester-By-the-Sea and swiped a card holder and money clip, which haven’t been found, police said.

The Friday night incident is the second during the last few weeks on Cape Ann, which sticks out into the Atlantic Ocean about 40 miles northeast of Boston.

On July 13 a seagull swooped down and took a thin wallet from a man leaving a pizza place on Main Street in Gloucester. In that incident, the gull quickly dropped the wallet on the roof of another building, and it was recovered with the help of a bucket truck, according to The Gloucester Times.

“I’m starting to wonder if there might be a coordinated effort among Cape Ann seagulls,” said Manchester-By-the-Sea Police Chief Edward Conley, according to the Gloucester Times.
