Cape Anti-Pollution Group Targets Thin Plastic Bags

Banning thin-film plastic bags is one of the top priorities of a group seeking to reduce pollution on Cape Cod.

Also identified were getting people to carry out their trash wherever they go, reducing contaminants in storm water runoff from roads from getting into the aquifer below ground, reducing cigarette butts, and getting pet owners to remove dog waste, according to the Cape Cod Times.

The goals emerged during the second meeting of the Clean Cape and Islands Summit, sponsored by Creating a Responsible Environment (or CARE, for short) for the Cape and Islands, partnered by the Center for Coastal Studies and the Cape Cod Anti-Litter Coalition.
