February 8, 2021

He didn’t vote for it when it came up for a vote in the U.S. Senate, but U.S. Senator Ed Markey (D-Malden) is not done with the Green New Deal yet.

He posted a video on Twitter over the weekend reiterating that — on Saturday, February 7, the two-year anniversary of the proposal.

Markey said:

Two years ago, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and I introduced the Green New Deal and nothing has been the same. The climate movement has grown more and more powerful and enjoyed many victories, but it’s only just beginning. It reflects these high goals that we have for saving our planet while creating millions of new union jobs in the United States of America. Happy Birthday, Green New Deal, but we’re only just beginning in order to honor this promise that we need to generations to come. Thank you to AOC and the Sunrise Movement and to this incredible grassroots juggernaut that has been created across our country.
