Elizabeth Warren Ends 2020 Presidential Run

March 5, 2020

Elizabeth Warren is no longer in the presidential race.

The Massachusetts Democrat announced on Thursday afternoon that she would be dropping out of the race and not endorsing any of the three remaining candidates.

Warren did not win any states in the primary and did not finish higher than third in any given state — including Massachusetts, where she is the sitting senior U.S. senator.

Warren is the third candidate to drop out this week.

Before Super Tuesday, former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar both dropped out and endorsed former Vice President Joe Biden. Now, Biden, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, and Hawaii U.S. Representative Tulsi Gabbard are the only Democrats left in the race.

With Warren dropping out, former Massachusetts Republican Governor Bill Weld is the only remaining Bay State candidate in the race for the two major parties.

Warren joins former Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and U.S. Representative Seth Moulton as Bay State candidates who dropped out of the 2020 race.
