Former New Hampshire U.S. Senator May Endorse Nikki Haley

November 30, 2023

A former U.S. senator from New Hampshire is thinking of endorsing former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley for president in the Republican primary.

U.S. Senator Gordon Humphrey (R-New Hampshire), who voted for Joe Biden over Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election, told Politico this week that he may end up endorsing Haley, though he wants to have a private meeting with her first.

He told the liberal outlet that he likes her “experience, her qualifications, her energy, her policy positions, and the fact that she can win” — or at least come in a “strong second” in New Hampshire.

Humphrey, 83, served in the U.S. Senate from 1979 to 1990. He was one of the most conservative members of Congress. In 2016, he became a never-Trumper, and has remained so.
