Former Trump Staffer May Run For U.S. House In First New Hampshire District

June 10, 2021

She worked for former President Donald Trump. Now she wants to run for Congress.

Karoline Leavitt served as an assistant press secretary in the Trump administration. She is now considering running for the U.S. House of Representatives in New Hampshire’s First District.

“New Hampshire is my home. I moved to Washington to serve President Trump and the American people, not to become a swamp creature,” Leavitt said, according to The Hill. “It has always been my intention to move back, and I’ve heard from many Granite Staters who are looking for a young, conservative fighter.”

It’s an R+1 district, according to the Cook Partisan Voting Index. That means it votes one point more Republican than the national average.

Incumbent Democrat Chris Pappas won re-election last November. He got 51.3 percent of the vote while Republican Matt Mowers got 46.2 percent.
