Fund-Raising for New Museum of Homosexuality Launched in Boston
October 4, 2023
Homosexuality advocates are raising money to open what they are calling Boston LGBTQ Museum of Art, History and Culture.
“It is telling the history of the movement from the 1800s all the way to today, everything that has happened — marriage equality, for instance,” said museum founder Jean Dolin during a press conference Monday, October 2, according to State House News Service. “I think there is an element of teaching the younger generation the work that had to take place to get us here today, where LGBTQ people can somewhat be free and somewhat be respected in society with dignity. There’s also another piece in my vision, where we want to support LGBTQ artists, making sure that they are paid and that they can thrive economically through our institution.”
“Marriage equality” is a term supporters of same-sex marriage use to refer to same-sex marriage.
The museum organizers’ goal is to raise $2 to $6 million during the next five years in order to open the museum in a temporary space “before settling into a potentially larger venue capable of supporting artists and programming,” State House News Service reported.
The long-term goal is to raise $100 million.
New to NewBostonPost? Conservative media is hard to find in Massachusetts. But you’ve found it. Now dip your toe in the water for two bucks — $2 for two months. And join the real revolution.
