Geoff Diehl Leads Maura Healey With Unenrolleds But Trails Overall, Poll Shows

September 12, 2022

In the race for governor, former state representative Geoff Diehl (R-Whitman) has an edge over Democratic attorney general Maura Healey — among unenrolled voters.

While Healey leads Diehl by 18 points overall in a recently-released Emerson College poll — 52 percent to 34 percent — Diehl is actually doing better than Healey when it comes to unenrolled voters. With those voters, Diehl has the edge 45 percent to 39 percent. Unenrolled voters — who are registered to vote but not formally aligned with a political party — make up 58 percent of the Massachusetts electorate, according to Emerson College.

“We still have a lot of work to do, but coming off our convincing primary win this week I believe this poll shows the strength our campaign has and our ability to appeal to a wide range of voters on a number of issues,” Diehl said in a press release. “We are winning this race where it really counts, and I believe that as we bring our message of freedom, fiscal responsibility, and empowering parents to more and more voters statewide we will continue to surge in the polls.”
