Harvard Crimson Calls Harvard Republican Club White Supremacists for Endorsing Donald Trump

October 11, 2020

The Harvard Crimson has denounced the Harvard Republican Club for endorsing the incumbent Republican president of the United States.

The GOP student group endorsed President Donald Trump in late September, four years after previous members of the club declined to endorse then-candidate Trump in the spring of 2016.

In a staff editorial this past week, the undergraduate daily newspaper said that by endorsing President Trump the Harvard Republican Club is also supporting white supremacy and undermining the safety of non-white students at Harvard.

“Not only is it impossible to separate an endorsement of Trump from tacit approval of white supremacy, it’s impossible not to see this endorsement as a provocation that willfully belittles other students’ identity and disregards their safety,” the Harvard Crimson editorial states, adding:  “… the Republican Club’s endorsement serves as a further reminder that our campus is not devoid of those who engage white supremacy.”

The editorial was published Monday, October 5.

A survey of freshmen at Harvard College in September 2020 found that 90 percent support Joe Biden for president, while only 7 percent support President Trump.
