Jake Auchincloss Leading and Appears To Win Fourth Congressional District Democratic Primary
September 2, 2020
Some are under the impression that the votes are not done being counted in the Democratic primary for a U.S. House seat in Massachusetts’s Fourth Congressional District, but it appears as though some already know who won.
Many observers believe that Newton city councilor Jake Auchincloss won the race, though it has not been officially called. As of 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning, the results were not official, but Auchincloss had 22.4 percent of the vote compared to former Brookline selectman and Planned Parenthood employee Jesse Mermell’s 20.9 percent, as Nathaniel Rakich of FiveThirtyEight reported.

Those results had Auchincloss up by 2,150 votes. Mermell did win Needham with 2,462 votes to Auchincloss’s 1,963, according to the town’s web site, but that doesn’t cover the gap.
