League of Women Voters Backs Student Strike Over Climate Change

August 27, 2019

Skipping school to protest perceived inaction on climate change is a good idea, the president of the League of Women Voters of Massachusetts said.

“Young people around the world are calling on adults to join them in this fight for their very future. Science has made it clear; the stakes couldn’t be higher. This is a fight for the existence of future generations. We cannot wait any longer to take action and we cannot fail. There is no Planet B,” said Judy Zaunbrecher, co-president of the League of Women Voters of Massachusetts, in a written statement Tuesday, August 27.

The so-called Massachusetts Climate Strike is scheduled for Friday, September 20.

This past spring the League of Women Voters of Massachusetts sponsored a “Climate Change Challenge” video contest for students.

The League of Women Voters touts itself as a nonpartisan organization that stands for voter education and good government.
