Left-Wing Cape Ann Newspaper Calls Fox News ‘Far-Right’

May 4, 2023

An editorial in The Gloucester Daily Times lauded Tucker Carlson’s firing by Fox News last week while calling it a “far-right network.”

“For those who appreciate fact-based journalism, it’s a good start,” the newspaper said of Carlson’s dismissal.

The editorial, published Monday, May 1, suggests Carlson “got caught in the lies” of Fox News’s claims about the 2020 presidential election, without providing any specific lies that Carlson is supposed to have gotten caught in, while also noting that Carlson’s show Tucker Carlson Tonight “wasn’t a major transgressor” in the network’s promotion of election fraud theories.

Fox Corporation, which owns Fox News Channel, on April 18 agreed to pay $787.5 million to Dominion Voting Systems to settle a defamation lawsuit against the network, stemming from the network’s post-2020-election coverage.
