Lightning Sets Golf Course Tree Aglow

An apparent lightning strike set a tree at Clearview Country Club in Millbury on fire from within.

The Millbury Fire Department posted photos of the tree on its Facebook page after arriving on the scene at 4:43 a.m. Sunday, May 26.

“The tree apparently took a lightning strike during the night and was burning deeply on arrival,” the fire department said.

Millbury is a town of about 13,000 in south central Massachusetts, about 6 miles south-by-southeast of Worcester.
