Maine Fisherman Catches Yellow Lobster

A fisherman in Maine caught a rare yellow lobster this week and donated it to the University of New England’s Arthur P. Girard Marine Science Center on the school’s Biddeford campus.

A press release from the university says that the school will use the lobster, named Banana, in a research project.

“The University of New England is sharing an $860,000 grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) with the Maine Department of Marine Resources, Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences, and Hood College in Maryland to study the impact that a warming Gulf of Maine is having on lobster larvae and their success in growing to adulthood,” the release says.
