Mashpee Zoning Board Says No To Resident’s Helicopter

A Mashpee man who has been flying his helicopter to and from his home on Ockway Bay since 2007 can’t keep doing it, the town’s zoning board said.

Neighbors have complained about the noise and vibrations the helicopter causes, according to The Cape Cod Times.

The case has had twists and turns. In January 2018 the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court overturned a state law saying that local zoning regulations restricting use of a helicopter required approval from the state’s Aeronautics Division, according to the Cape Cod Times.

It’s unclear whether the helipad owner, William Haney, plans to appeal the zoning board’s ruling in state court.
