Massachusetts Congressman Drove To Washington Rather Than Fly

March 22, 2020

U.S. Representative Jim McGovern (D-Worcester) drove to Washington D.C. rather than fly down as most members of Congress typically do, because of the coronavirus.

McGovern appeared on WCVB-TV Channel 5’s On The Record on the morning of Sunday, March 22.

“Are you still flying?” host Ed Harding asked early in the interview.

“Ah, I drove down here. So, you know, I just thought that was the better way to do it,” McGovern said. “Look, we all have to think differently.”

Harding followed up by asking him when the last time the congressman flew on an airplane was.

McGovern estimated that he last flew about a week and a half ago.
