Massachusetts Family Institute Holding Rally Against Conversion Therapy Ban at State House Wednesday

March 20, 2019

The Massachusetts Family Institute is planning to hold a rally outside the governor’s office at the State House on Wednesday in opposition to a proposed ban on conversion therapy.

The rally, scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, is aimed primarily at Governor Charlie Baker, who has said he is inclined to sign a ban bill, which would make it illegal for therapists to offer techniques to children 17 and younger to try to change their sexual orientation or gender identity.

The Massachusetts House has already passed a bill that would threaten therapists with loss of their state license if they practice conversion therapy on minors. A version of the legislation in the Massachusetts Senate is before the Rules Committee.

The Massachusetts Family Institute, which lobbies for Judeo-Christian moral principles on Beacon Hill, hopes to try to persuade the governor to veto conversion therapy bill if it passes both chambers.
