Massachusetts Trump 2024 Chairman Blasts Biden-Harris Policies
September 12, 2024
The chairman of the Massachusetts Trump 2024 campaign criticized the Biden-Harris administration for its record on the economy, border security, and foreign policy.
Thomas Hodgson, former sheriff of Bristol County and current chairman of Trump’s campaign in the state, emphasized concerns about inflation and wage stagnation.
“What Americans need is a decisive break from Bidenomics, which has fueled inflation while keeping wages stagnant,” Hodgson said in a press release from the Massachusetts Republic Party issued Wednesday, September 11. “Republicans offer a stronger path forward — tax cuts, deregulation, and an economic environment where young people can afford homes and build their futures.”
On immigration, Hodgson said the Biden administration’s actions are hurting Massachusetts and other states.
“America needs a robust border — something the Biden-Harris Administration has allowed to deteriorate — leaving states like Massachusetts grappling with a costly migrant crisis which is set to cost taxpayers billions and will likely result in higher taxes or cuts to essential services for Massachusetts residents,” Hodgson said in the written statement.
Hodgson also criticized the Biden administration on foreign policy.
“America needs leadership that will stand firm on the global stage. Under Republican leadership, Americans trusted their president to make strong, decisive foreign policy decisions. Today, we are left uncertain about who is truly in control of our country’s future,” Hodgson said.
Hodgson concluded by saying that Republican leadership could solve these problems.
“Setting aside partisan political posturing, it’s clear that under Republican leadership, America was in a stronger position than it is today,” Hodgson said. “We must move away from the divisive ‘us versus them’ mentality and the class warfare that Democrats at both the national and state levels continue to push. It’s time for the nation to come together and vote for policies that drive American prosperity, not the divisive and misleading rhetoric that has left the country poorer, weaker, and more divided than ever.”
Kamala Harris, the Democratic Party’s nominee for president, has been trying to shore up perceived weak points on the economy and the border by offering new policy proposals and slightly distancing herself current president Joe Biden while also touting purported successes by the current administration.
Trump has no chance of winning Massachusetts, which he lost by 33 points to Biden in 2020.
Trump is the favorite to pick up a single electoral vote in Maine, which he will get if he can win the state’s Second Congressional District in central and northern Maine. He also has an outside chance of winning New Hampshire’s four electoral votes, though recent polls have him between 4 and 6 percentage points behind Kamala Harris. The current RealClearPolitics average-of-polls spread between Harris and Trump is 5 percentage points.
Biden is expected to win the other states in New England — Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Vermont — easily.
A national poll published by The New York Post on Thursday, September 12 found Harris leading Trump by 3 percentage points in the country, 50 to 47 percent. The poll found that most people think Harris won the first presidential debate with Trump on Tuesday, September 10, but that the debate did not move poll numbers.
A poll released by The Economist and YouGov on Wednesday, September 11 found the national race a dead heat, with the two candidates tied at 45 percent.
