Maura Healey and Michelle Wu To Speak At Vatican Conference On Climate Change In May

Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey and Boston Mayor Michelle Wu plan to speak at an international conference on climate change in May.

“Pope Francis will preside over the summit,” which is “organized by the Pontifical Academy of Sciences and the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences,” according to a press release issued Monday, April 22 from the University of Massachusetts at Boston.

Healey’s talk is titled “Governing in the Age of Climate Change.” Wu’s talk is titled “Governance, Health, and Energy.”

Organizers include Marcelo Suárez-Orozco, the chancellor of UMass Boston, and Ram Ramanathan, a professor at the University of California San Diego and and climate solutions scholar at Cornell University, “known for discovering the greenhouse effect of halocarbons,” according to the press release.

The conference is scheduled for Wednesday, May 15 through Friday, May 17 in Rome.
