November 19, 2023
Governor Maura Healey took to X (formerly Twitter) today to celebrate 20 years of same-sex marriage in Massachusetts.
“20 years ago today, Massachusetts became the first to say love is love and establish marriage equality,” said Healey, a Democrat.
November 18, 2003 was the day the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court ruled 4-3 in Goodridge v. Department of Public Health that same-sex couples could legally marry.
