Nantucket Hasn’t Seen A New Coronavirus Case In More Than Two Weeks

May 20, 2020

Coronavirus has not been much of a problem on Nantucket as of late, according to The Inquirer and Mirror.

On Monday, May 18, Nantucket Cottage Hospital reported that for the 15th straight day, the island had no new cases of coronavirus.

In total, there have been 13 cases on the Bay State’s most remote island. Of those cases, 10 recovered, two are in isolation, and one person, who was over 80s and had preexisting medical conditions, died last month.

The report states that seven of the 13 cases were in people of Hispanic descent. Additionally, 11 of those 13 people had traveled off the island in the week prior to their diagnosis.

In March local officials feared that coronavirus cases would swamp the island’s hospital, but that so far has not come close to happening.
