NBC Sports Boston Releases Its Projected 2023 Red Sox Starting Lineup

January 16, 2023

What will the starting nine for the Boston Red Sox look like next year?

That remains unclear as the 2023 regular season approaches — it is scheduled to begin on Thursday, March 30. However, NBC Sports Boston recently released its projected starting lineup for the Red Sox this season. Here is what NBC Sports Boston expects the lineup to look like this season:

  1. left fielder Masataka Yoshida

  2. designated hitter Justin Turner

  3. third baseman Rafael Devers

  4. shortstop Trevor Story

  5. right fielder Alex Verdugo

  6. first baseman Triston Casas

  7. center fielder Kiké Hernandez

  8. second baseman Christian Arroyo

  9. catcher Reese McGuire

Trevor Story won’t start the season because of elbow surgery — and Red Sox general manager Chaim Bloom wouldn’t say definitively whether Story will play at all in 2023 during a teleconference with sportswriters on Tuesday, January 10.

The Red Sox had a 78-84 record in 2022; they finished last in the American League East Division.
